After his two bronze medals in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle, Maxime Grousset won his ticket to the 100m butterfly final on Friday.

Author of the second best performance of the year over the distance, in 50”61, Maxime Grousset was expected during the semi-finals of the 100m butterfly of the world championships in Fukuoka, Friday July 28. The New Caledonian had assured in series, signing the fourth time. He confirmed it in the semi-finals by touching the wall in a time of 50’62, only one hundredth of his record, and finishing second in his race behind the American Dare Rose.

A controlled race and a result that justify Maxime Grousset’s choice to skip the 50m freestyle, scheduled a few minutes later. Especially since he admitted, after his qualification, to be blunted by his 100m freestyle in bronze the day before: “I’m still a little heavy, I still have the aftermath of my 100m. II have 24 hours of recovery left. It will do good”.

Thanks to a slower second semi-final, the 24-year-old will swim in lane 5 in the final on Saturday.
