Solopos.com, MADIUN — A total of 114 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) were recorded in the last seven months in Madiun City, East Java. However, there have been no recorded deaths this year.
Head of the Madiun Population Control and Family Planning Health Office, Denik Wuryani, said that the municipal government had fogged the DHF cases to eradicate the mosquitoes that cause DHF. He appealed to the public to continue to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN).
“Fogging is done, but PSN still has to be done. Because this fogging only kills adult mosquitoes that have flown. As for the mosquito larvae, they can be eradicated via PSN,” he said, Friday (28/7/2023).
Denik said dozens of fogging had been carried out from January to late July. Fogging is mostly done in Taman District. At least 27 fogging locations have been carried out in the sub-district. In addition, fogging was also carried out in 12 locations in Kartoharjo District and three locations in Manguharjo District.
He hoped that the public would remain vigilant against dengue cases. Even though it’s summer now.
“Don’t think that during the dry season there are no dengue cases. Indeed, during the rainy season mosquitoes breed faster because there are many places to breed,” he explained.
Furthermore, he said efforts to suppress mosquito breeding were not only enough with PSN. However, there must also be other efforts.
“The point is we have to minimize mosquito bites,” he said.
