During the preparations for the annual festivals of Faraya, and after the venue was prepared for the ceremony, the people of the region were surprised by the colors of the decorations that were placed and indicated, according to their opinion, the colors of the flag of “homosexuality”, which caused confusion in the region, and the people called for a request from those concerned to change it immediately and not to keep it, expressing their discontent of its meanings.
With regard to the doubts raised about decorations and flags, sources from the municipality of Faraya denied all the allegations, and confirmed that “the slogans and flags that were displayed at the ceremony were not intended for homosexuals, but may be similar, but of course they do not represent any other meaning.”
She explained that “the decorations and flags were called “Smiley face”, and that their main goal was to add an atmosphere of joy and happiness to the festival, and not to send any other messages.”
However, after the outbreak of controversy and outrage in the region, the municipality decided, in cooperation with the organizers of the party, to remove the decorations immediately, not to take advantage of the matter and to avoid any other problems that it might cause.
The sources hoped that “the annual festivals in the region will continue in a positive and happy atmosphere, and that care be taken in choosing the colors and symbols used in the decorations to avoid any future misunderstanding that may affect these popular events among the population.”
