England midfielder Jordan Henderson officially left Liverpool, a club he has defended for 12 years. He joined the Saudi Arabia club, Al Ettifaq.
At the club of the ‘sultans’, Jordan Henderson will be rewarded with a crazy salary worth £ 700,000 or the equivalent of Rp. 13.6 billion per week!
It is also reported that Liverpool will receive £12 million (around Rp. 233 billion) for the transfer of the 33-year midfielder.
“A leader and a fighter, we are very happy to sign him. Welcome to your new home Jordan Henderson,” wrote Al Ettifaq on his Twitter account, Thursday (27/7/2023).
The 33-year-old England midfielder was about to end his 12-year career at Anfield when he decided to join former Liverpool team-mate Steven Gerrard who is now Al-Ettifaq coach. Henderson is certain to wear the number 10 jersey at his new club.
Henderson led the Reds to their first Premier League title for three decades in 2020, a year after lifting the Champions League trophy.
“It’s hard to say the last 12 years and even harder to say goodbye,” Henderson said in an Instagram post. “I will always be Red. Until the end of my life.”
“Thank you for everything. You will never walk alone.”
Henderson joined Liverpool from Sunderland in 2011 and replaced Gerrard as captain at Anfield in 2015.

Since then, Henderson has made 492 appearances and scored 33 goals in 12 years for Liverpool. Meanwhile, at international level, Henderson has made 77 appearances by scoring 3 goals since making his debut for the England senior national team in 2010.
