Jaylen Brown Signs Largest Contract in NBA History with Boston Celtics

Guard Jaylen Brown agreed to renew with the Boston Celtics for five years and 304 million dollars, the largest contract in NBA history, US media reported on Tuesday.

This agreement exceeds the extension signed a year ago by Nikola Jokic, two-time NBA MVP and star of the champion Denver Nuggets, for five years and 264 million dollars.

Brown, 26, a two-time All-Star, is committed to the Boston franchise through the end of the 2028-2029 season, his agent, Jason Glushon, told ESPN.

The Celtics thus ensure the continuity of the couple formed by Brown and forward Jayson Tatum, the great star of the team.

Last season Brown averaged a career-high 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per night.

Since Brown was selected with the number three pick in the 2016 Draft, the Celtics have reached the Eastern Conference finals in five of those seven seasons and were runners-up in 2022.

Last season Boston suffered a frustrating loss in the Eastern final to the Miami Heat on their home court in Game 7 of the series, in which they had managed to come back from 3-0 down.

Last month, the Celtics turned their roster upside down by signing Latvian center Kristaps Porzingis and trading point guard Marcus Smart, one of their locker room leaders.
