PSIS Semarang’s Foreign Players Sanctioned by PSSI Komdis: Carlos Fortes and Boubakary Diarra Forced Off the Field

Sumatran voice – Two key players PSIS Semarang, Carlos Fortes and Boubakary Diarra forced off the field. The reason is, they were sanctioned by the Disciplinary Commission (Komdis) PSSI.

As a result of this sanction, the two foreign players are certain to be absent for a while PSIS oppose Borneo FC in week five Liga 1 2023/2024 at the Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, Friday 28 July 2023 afternoon. The absence of Carlos Fortes and Boubakary Diarra was a serious blow to the team nicknamed Mahesa Jenar.

“Two PSIS foreign players, namely Carles Fortes and Boubakary Diarra, received sanctions from the PSSI Komdis as a result of the last game against PSS Sleman at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Friday 21 July 2023,” said an official statement from PSIS as seen from their Instagram account, Friday (28/7/ 2023).

Fortes, who received a red card, was deemed to have violated Article 49 paragraph 1 letter (d) and paragraph 2 of the PSSI disciplinary code. He was sentenced to an additional ban from playing in the next two matches and a fine of IDR 10 million.

Meanwhile, Diarra was considered to have committed a serious foul play violation and escaped the attention of the match officials who violated Article 48A letters (a) and (f) of the 2023 PSSI Disciplinary Code. He was sentenced to a ban from playing in one match and a fine of IDR 10 million.

Suddenly, PSIS Semarang considered that the PSSI Komdis decision to sanction the two players was excessive.

“First, we really regret it. Regarding Fortes, we think that the red card penalty is enough,” said PSIS operational manager Wisnu Adi.

According to him, Fortes did that too because he was provoked by opposing players and there were no other bad behaviors that made noise.

“The second is related to Diarra. After we studied the existing video footage, Diarra’s defensive position and throwing the ball were correct and the opposing player’s head approached the ball. But why is there a penalty after that,” said Wisnu.

PSIS also regrets that the decision from the Komdis cannot be appealed and the letter from the Komdis is also very close to the nearest match.

“Thus disrupting the team’s preparations. What’s wrong with Komdis?” he explained.

Even though they lost both key players, PSIS has the ambition to earn full points against Borneo FC so that they can maintain hope at the top of the League 1 standings.

PSIS Semarang is currently in 4th place with a collection of 7 points. Above it, in 3rd place is Borneo with the same points.
