Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Scientists have estimated the remaining lifespan of the Sun. Currently, the center of the solar system is five billion years old and is entering its middle age phase.
Surprisingly, as the Sun ages, it will continue to heat up over the next five billion years. Eventually, this will have an impact on Earth and the rest of the solar system.
One possible consequence is a slowing down of the carbon cycle, which will make it difficult for many plants to survive.
When this happens, Earth will no longer be able to sustain plant life and will be destroyed. This phenomenon is predicted to occur in 600 million years.
According to IFL Science, the Sun is predicted to become 10% hotter in one billion years. This will lead to a drastic increase in the greenhouse effect and cause droughts due to the evaporation of the oceans.
Earth will become similar to Venus, where everything will melt. Ultimately, humans will not be able to survive on Earth.
IFL Science also reports that Earth and Mars will eventually be drawn towards the Sun, while some planets will be pushed outwards from the solar system.
The Sun’s core will also melt and give rise to a new celestial object called a White Dwarf. However, this star will not be able to sustain any remaining planets after its mass disappears.
Only Jupiter is said to survive the process for the next 30 billion years. However, this giant planet will eventually be pushed outwards and merge with other stars.
In simulations conducted, the last planet to leave the solar system will occur in 100 billion years.
