LIBREVILLE, July 25, 2023 (AGP) — The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is changing hands. Qin Gang, in office since December 2022, but who has not been seen in public for a month, has been relieved of his duties and replaced by Wang Yi, we learned from the New China Agency.
In charge of diplomacy within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the newly promoted is a regular in diplomatic mysteries. Wang Yi, who had already assumed this role for three weeks, becomes the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The director of the CCP’s Central Foreign Affairs Bureau has already replaced himself on several occasions, in particular to welcome several foreign leaders to China, or to go to the summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
