Laura Chevalier has been a family social economy advisor since September 2020 at the Gabriel-Péri neighborhood center in Saint-Martin-d’Hères, currently managed by Aurélia Haller.
This Monday, July 24, was one of the highlights of the summer, with a desire to mix generations – children, adults and seniors – around a cooking workshop. About fifteen inhabitants of the sector or the surrounding area were there to prepare a convivial shared meal together.
Everything here is about collaboration and participation, and even the recipes of the day have been chosen together. Laura Chevalier explains: “Above all, we made sure that the meal would offer a good nutritional balance, with the desire also to satisfy the gourmet desires of the participants. Thus, on the menu, tuna and tomato pies, a tomato salad and grilled peppers, and a magnificent banana and mandarin dessert.
Everyone got their hands dirty, from 4 years old to 78 years old, in a beautiful festive spirit, under the wise advice of the oldest…
Fatou and Warda came with their children. Warda, with her son and her young daughter, is a regular at the neighborhood center and says she is very happy to participate in the social life of the neighborhood, which allows her to meet other families, to make friends and to spend very pleasant moments. Fatou, she came with her three daughters, and they really got busy preparing the succulent tuna pies.
At 11 a.m., the group, in the midst of culinary work, was treated to a visit from Mayor David Queiros and his deputy Jérôme Rubes, who had come to demonstrate the municipality’s support for social, collective and participatory actions.
In the course of the afternoon, after the shared meal in the multipurpose room, place to relax with games and activities according to everyone’s desires…
