High Fail Rates for Diesel Cars’ Euro Standard 5 and 6 in Flemish Centers: Costly Repairs Worth it?

And apparently there are quite a few. Last year, the Flemish centers for car inspections rejected twelve percent of all diesel cars with Euro standard 5 and 6. Almost 5 percent received a comment. This is evident from figures from sector federation GOCA.

GOCA recommends drivers to have their car thoroughly examined by a professional garage mechanic. “Not only the particulate filter, but all engine parts must be examined, because they can also be the basis of excessive emissions,” the federation writes in the press release.

“In principle, any brand dealer can carry out a repair,” says Pecqueur. “The difficult thing is that it is difficult to estimate what the cost will be. A particulate filter quickly costs five hundred euros, but there are also three thousand euros depending on the type of vehicle. Then you have to ask yourself whether the suds are still worth the coal and you shouldn’t buy a new car.”
