A plane used to extinguish forest fires in Greece has crashed just outside Athens. The incident was captured on television.

– The plane crashed during a mission on the island of Evvia. There were at least two people on board when the plane went down near the village of Platanisto, says rescue service spokesman Yannis Artopios to the AP news agency.
The incident was captured on television. A video published by Greek media shows what is believed to be the plane dropping water over the flames, before crashing to the ground and exploding.
The extent of the damage is currently unknown.
Evvia is an island in the southern part of Greece, close to Athens. A helicopter is on its way to the accident site, according to the state channel ERT.
Several areas in Greece have been badly hit by forest fires in recent days, including on the islands of Rhodes and Corfu. Over the weekend, over 30,000 people evacuated from Rhodes, where the fires are still raging.
