Forest Fire Risk in the Var: Seven Areas Closed for Access due to Very High Risk

Due to the weather conditions of this Tuesday, July 25, 2023, the risk of fire is very high in the Var. Seven forest areas in the department have therefore been placed on red alert and are subject to restrictions.

An interactive map to know the risks

Consequences: the Monts Toulonnais, the Corniche des Maures, the Islands of Hyères, the Maures, Sainte-Baume, Center-Var and Esterel are closed for high risk of fire. Access, circulation and presence are prohibited.

Note that the massifs of Haut-Varof Plateau of Canjuers are in severe risk. Access to them is not recommended and work is prohibited, except for agricultural, forestry or general interest work from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. provided they are accompanied by an extinguishing device.

Until mid-September, a carte interactive with the possibility of locating oneself is published each day, before 7 p.m., for the next day, on the portal of State services in the Var. It informs about the access possibilities and the regulation of works in the Var forests.
