Dubai: Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is likely to be banned for misbehaving on the field and during the prize giving ceremony during the third match of the ODI series against the Bangladesh women’s team. Harmanpreet, who hit the wicket with the bat after getting out of the match, left the crease after strongly reacting against the umpire’s decision. The player also openly said that the umpiring was pathetic during the prize giving ceremony after the match. That’s why Harman’s reaction to call the umpires who helped you win the trophy while posing for a photo with the Bangladeshi players also led to controversy. In protest against this, Bangladesh captain Niger Sultana protested and left the ground with his team members, adding momentum to the controversy.

With this, Harman may receive four demerit points for violating the ICC code of conduct. It is reported that the player has committed a level 2 offense under the ICC Code of Conduct. ICC has not yet announced any action in this regard. If action is taken, Harmanpreet will be the first female cricketer to be punished under Level 2 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Three demerit points may be awarded for damaging equipment and one demerit point for publicly criticizing match officials. The final decision rests with the ICC. ESPN reports that the BCCI has spoken to the ICC on the matter.

It is also indicated that the Bangladesh team has filed a complaint against Harmanpreet after the incident. Along with this, if the report of the match officials comes, there is a possibility of banning the match. The player may also have to pay a fine of 75 percent of the match fee. A fine of 50 per cent may be levied for conduct including wicket-taking and 25 per cent for poor reaction during the prize-giving ceremony. Apart from all this, there is also the possibility of non-compete. If that happens, the star will miss two matches in the Asian Games.

Harmanpreet (14) was out on the fourth ball of the 34th over bowled by Harita Akhtar. Fahima Khatoon caught a high ball at slip when she tried to sweep. There is a doubt that the ball hit the pad. Anyway, the umpire called out without any doubt. This decision did not go down well with Harmanpreet. Speaking after the match, Harmanpreet also openly said that the umpiring was pathetic. Meanwhile, Bangladesh captain Niger Sultana responded that the Indian captain should have behaved with a little more dignity. Batting first, Bangladesh scored 225 for 4 in 50 overs. India were 160 for three when Harman Preet was dismissed. Only 66 runs needed to win with seven wickets remaining. In the end, losing wickets continuously, India were all out for 225 runs in 49.3 overs and the game became ‘tied’.

After this, Harman invited the umpires to stand with the Bangladesh players while taking photos at the prize giving ceremony. Harmanpreet claims that the umpires were in favor of Bangladesh in the match. “Why are you the only one standing on this stage? The umpires helped you get even. Call them too. Let’s take a photo together” Harman said while presenting the crown. Bangladesh players boycotted the ceremony and left the stage in protest.
