The Sporting Kansas City and Cincinnati match in the American League Cup witnessed an incident involving a violent expulsion of a player who butted his opponent.
Sporting Kansas City player Alan Pulido got a red card in the 30th minute after head-butting Yerson Mosquera.
A video clip showed a simple push from Mosquera on Pulido, before the latter responded with a powerful headbutt to the Cincinnati player.
Immediately, the referee, Daniel Quintero Heitron, decided to send Pulido a red card, according to the British Daily Mail.
The meeting, which resumed after the incident, ended with Cincinnati winning on penalties 4-2 after a 3-3 tie.
And the pioneers of social networking sites compared the headbutt that Mosquera was subjected to to the famous headbutt of Frenchman Zinedine Zidane to Italian defender Marco Materazzi, during the 2006 World Cup final, as a result of which he received a red card, and his team lost the championship in the end.
