BJP Leadership Disputes: Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s Potential Candidacy in Thiruvananthapuram for Loksabha Elections 2024

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the Lok Sabha elections are around the corner, Sobha Surendran’s public responses are making the group disputes public again in the BJP. Those standing with Surendran give the interpretation that the war is being waged by the other side against K. Surendran, putting Shobha in the front. The decision of the state leadership is to ignore the responses of Shobha Surendran. Surendran’s side also alleges that when the faction that expected K. Surendran to step down from the president’s post realized that there was no change in leadership, the group started fighting.

Meanwhile, the national leadership is meeting the state leaders separately to discuss the political moves to be taken ahead of the elections in each state. K. Surendran came to Delhi for these discussions.

There are indications that the central leadership has conveyed the message to the state leadership that Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar may contest for the Thiruvananthapuram seat. The leaders are passing on the information that Rajeev Chandrasekhar has been instructed to participate in programs centered on Thiruvananthapuram. But he is still working in Karnataka. There is information that Kerala may be included in the core committee before contesting in Kerala.

It is reported that the RSS leadership has also expressed interest in Rajiv Chandrasekhar coming to the national level. There is no change in the fact that the name of Rajeev Chandrasekhar came up in the first round of discussion and that he will contest from the national leadership in Thiruvananthapuram. The national leadership is also clear that there is no point in trying to change the state leaders.

Union Minister V. Muralidharan has been instructed to pay attention in Attingal constituency. Shobha Surendran, who was a candidate in the Attingal constituency last time, had secured more than two and a half lakh votes. She was hoping for that seat again as it is a constituency close to Shobha Surendran. But after V.Muralidharan became the minister, he focused on the Attingal constituency and started working there and gave a hint of competition among the party elements there. This is what angered Shobha and led to the current public response.

English Summary: Rajeev Chandrasekhar may contest from Thiruvananthapuram constituency in Loksabha Elections 2024; V Muraleedharan in Attingal
