SHARJAH, 24th July, 2020 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, affirmed that the Human Resources Department must search for a job for every workable citizen between the ages of 18 and 60, as the department made a mistake in applying the law issued by His Highness in 2018 regarding the Social Security Fund and stopped hiring those over 30 years old.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah said: “We see that the Social Security Law gives guidance to human resources, and I issued this law in 2018 regarding the social security of the Emirate of Sharjah, and the law makes it clear that every valid individual must be employed, and the age of the insured is not less than 18 years and not more than 60 years, and a specific period of employment has not been specified, but in reality this law was misinterpreted and was not applied in the manner intended by the law, as the Human Resources Department worked hard and stopped hiring those over 30 years old, although the law did not mention this matter “.
His Highness added, “We also have a problem with the large number of job applications, because our salaries are high, work is only 4 days a week, as well as maternity leave and annual leave that lasts for 60 days, as well as a decent living arrangement. A graduate of the university in Sharjah receives a monthly salary of 25 thousand dirhams, a house, and other attractive factors for the employee. Praise be to God, the recruitment process continues in Sharjah Police and Civil Defense, this is in addition to employment in universities and institutions, and the number will be announced at the end of this year, God willing.”
His Highness said: “In the society of the Emirate of Sharjah, things are not visible to the public, as it is known to all that salaries have increased in the Emirate of Sharjah and adjustments have been made, but we have retirees from before these increases, they get a monthly pension of about 12 thousand dirhams, while the new retirees, according to the new salaries after the increases, they get a retirement salary of 17,500 dirhams. By raising their pensions, and after addressing the conditions of this category, another category appeared, and they are retirees from federal agencies. We also treated their conditions and equalized their pensions with retirees from local institutions.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah added: “We have 9,511 people in the Emirate of Sharjah who receive aid from the Department of Social Services, which is not sufficient for them to live a decent life. They are divided into 27 cases, including the widow who receives assistance worth 2,000 dirhams and it is not enough for her. So shall we leave her? No, we intervene to treat her situation. Among these cases also are divorced women, people with disabilities, the unemployed, the sick who is unable to work, the pensioner with a meager pension that is not sufficient to support his family, as well as orphaned children and adult orphans Who needs money, and divorced men who have special problems such as mental illness, addiction or imprisonment, so who spends on their children?Also, among the 27 cases we have the elderly who receive assistance from the Ministry of Community Development, where a man and a woman receive 8400 dirhams and other cases.
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, concluded his speech by saying, “We ask God to forgive us if we neglected. God willing, by addressing the situation of these cases, we will complete a righteous society that finds a decent life for itself, a home to live in, and a stable, cohesive family wrapped around each other, and we pray to God to grant success to everyone and to see all our people in good health, God willing.”
