Female Students Suspended for Filming Classmates in Restroom: Netra Jyoti College, Karnataka

Udupi: Three female students have been suspended for placing a mobile camera in the rest room to capture private footage of their classmates. Three female students of Netra Jyoti College in Karnataka have been suspended. On Wednesday, they were found to have recorded the footage of a girl.

The girl informed her friends that her footage was being circulated in a WhatsApp group. They brought the matter to the management’s attention. The very next day, all three were expelled by the college management.

Rashmi Krishna, director of Netra Jyoti College, said that there is a ban on mobile phones in the college and the students were expelled for defying this by bringing mobile phones and filming the video. The explanation given by the students is that some other girls were targeted and the video of the complainant was filmed without their knowledge. The director also said that they deleted the video in front of the girl.

As the girl was reluctant to complain about the incident to the police, the college itself filed a complaint, the director said. The mobile phone used to capture the video has been sent for forensic examination.
