Dubai: Muhammad Yassin
The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced two Asians to 3 years in prison, fining them jointly 11,000 dirhams, and deporting them from the country after serving their sentences, for convicting them of participating with other fugitives of attempting to kidnap a woman and her boyfriend, threaten her with murder, and steal the fine.
The details of the case, which took place last October, go back to the Dubai Investments Park, when a building guard reported that a woman and her boyfriend had been injured in the parking lot opposite a building he was guarding.
According to the whistleblower’s testimony, one of the two victims entered his room in the early morning hours, where he was asked to call for an ambulance for the victim’s injury, so he went out to the place and found a bleeding woman and a vehicle fleeing the place quickly, so he informed the police.
The victim stated, in the investigations, that he was surprised by a number of people rushing towards his girlfriend’s vehicle, upon their arrival at her house at 3 am, in the compound, where they assaulted him and his girlfriend and threatened to kill them with a knife, and one of them used a stick to assault his girlfriend, to force her to get into their vehicle, so he asked them to leave her and resisted them.
He continued that he climbed into the defendants’ vehicle, where one of them seized his girlfriend’s bag, who told them that she would give them what they wanted in order to leave her, as she suffers from a heart disease, and could lose her life at any moment, so they left her and her friend, except that the driver of the vehicle ran over her before fleeing the place.
A policeman stated in the investigations that a team of investigations managed to identify the accused and arrested two of them, and one of them admitted that he participated with others in stealing it, after another fleeing woman told them that the victim had money and could be seized after her kidnapping.
