After their story filled social media, and the divergence of reactions it sparked, here is the British “grandmother” Iris Jones, 85, separating from her Egyptian husband, who is 46 years younger than her, after feeling weary of him.
After a love story that the two parties insisted on proving its existence despite the large age difference, Jones decided to separate from her husband, Muhammad (37 years), after a two-year marriage, according to the Daily Star newspaper.
“I never expected to fall in love with someone 46 years younger than me, but I did. I fell in love with everything about Muhammad,” Iris said.
And she pointed out that with the passage of time.. their lives became full of problems and controversy in everything without agreeing on anything, so that their lives became unbearable, so they decided to separate.
To fill the gap between her separation from the Egyptian youth, the British elderly woman bought a cat, because she does not argue.
Iris, who appeared on television four years ago, amazed the world by talking about spending her time “in love” with Mohamed Ibrahim, 37, after meeting them during a vacation in Cairo. in 2020.
After their marriage they later move into her seafront house in Weston-super-Mare and Mohammed gets a job as a security guard at the local Tesco – but now their love affair is over and Iris is single again.
“We used to have a great life but then it dwindled to nothing because I was always too tired to take care of him,” Iris, who has two sons, tells MailOnline. “I would do everything for him cooking and cleaning and tidying up. I’m better off without him and I wish I’d listened to my family and friends but it’s done..Now I’m sorry to meet him and I know now that my first husband was John.”
“But now, no way am I happy to be here alone with my Bengal cat Tibs, he’s the new love of my life. I’m glad I got rid of Mohamad. I kicked him out last month and haven’t seen or heard from him since. He took all his things with him and I have no idea where he is, but he won’t be welcome back here I can tell you. I definitely don’t feel love for him right now, what I feel now is stupid… I should have known him better.”
Then comparing herself to the crime series “The Sixth Commandment” where a younger man casts light on his male and female victims, Iris said: “I feel a little bit like the woman in the second episode of that series. Me and Mohamed are like the younger guy on that show.”
After their wedding in Egypt, Mohamed was granted permission to remain in the UK, but now the couple have separated and the Home Office is expected to review his eligibility circumstances.
