Typhoon No. 5 is likely to approach the Sakishima Islands such as Ishigaki Island around the 26th (Wednesday) to 27th (Thursday). Weather Point 1: Typhoon No. 5 “Extremely Strong” Might Approach Okinawa
This week’s weather point, the first one is “Typhoon No. 5 fear of approaching Okinawa”.
At 15:00 on the 23rd (Sunday), Typhoon No. 5 (Tokusuri) is moving west-northwest in the east of the Philippines at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour, as fast as a bicycle. The central pressure is 985hPa, the maximum wind speed near the center is 30m/s, the maximum instantaneous wind speed is 40m/s, and there are stormy areas.
After this, Typhoon No. 5 will continue to move north through areas with extremely high sea surface temperatures of around 30°C, so it is expected to resupply energy from the warm sea surface and develop rapidly.
It is expected to become a “strong” force tomorrow, the 24th (Monday), and to become a “very strong” force, the second rank from the top on the 25th (Tuesday). The force of a typhoon is determined by the maximum wind speed near its center, and the lower the central pressure, the stronger the maximum wind speed. On the 25th (Tuesday), the central pressure is expected to drop to 925hPa.
Due to the strengthening of the Pacific anticyclone, the course has become more westward than initially expected, but from around Wednesday 26th to Thursday 27th, it is expected to approach the Sakishima Islands such as Yonaguni, Iriomote, and Ishigaki with a “very strong” force, so caution is required.

As Typhoon No. 5 moves northward, the waves in the Okinawa region will gradually increase from around Monday, the 24th, and will become stormy with swells from around the 25th (Tuesday). As summer vacation begins, there will be more leisure activities at the sea, but be careful not to overdo it.
From around the 26th (Wednesday) to the 27th (Thursday), there is a risk of strong winds blowing mainly in the Sakishima Islands such as Ishigaki Island, leading to heavy rainfall warning levels. There is also the risk of violent storms and warning-level storm surges, so please stay away from the coast. Depending on the course of the typhoon, the Amami region may also be devastated from the 26th (Wednesday) to the 27th (Thursday).

Weather point 2: Be wary of “disaster-class dangerous heat approaching 40°C again”
This week’s weather point, the second, is “disaster-class heat approaching 40 degrees Celsius again”.
This is because as the typhoon develops and moves north, the surrounding Pacific high will also strengthen.
The reason is that typhoons are made up of strong updrafts. High pressure, on the other hand, is made up of descending air currents. When the updraft near the center of the typhoon rises to a point where it can no longer rise, it descends as a downdraft around the typhoon. Because there is a Pacific high pressure in the surrounding area, when the air descends, it is to “strengthen the downdraft = strengthen the high pressure”. The stronger the typhoon, the stronger the high pressure.
Due to this, intense heat is expected this week, mainly in Tohoku and Kyushu. The sweltering heat will continue for a long time, with the maximum temperature exceeding 35°C for many days in central Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. In the inland areas of the Kanto and Kinki regions, such as Kumagaya City and Kyoto City, it is likely that there will be places where the maximum temperature approaches 40 degrees Celsius, exceeding body temperature.
