Forbes presented its list of “The richest in each state 2023” and found that almost every state in America is now home to at least one billionaire.
According to the listing, nine list members became billionaires in the last four years, including the founder of solar manufacturer Array Technologies, Ron Corio, who is New Mexico’s first billionaire. Alabama, New Hampshire and Vermont also have a billionaire in residence this time after not having one previously.
According to Forbes, the only states that do not yet have billionaires are Alaska, Delaware, and West Virginia.
And although some millionaires have great fortunes, such as Bill Gates did not appear on the list with all his $116,000 million, since Jeff Bezos lives in Washington, who has $149,000 million.
Forbes notes that competition is particularly aggressive in the four states with the most billionaires, as more than 60% of the 775 billionaires residing in the US live in California (179), New York (130), Texas (73) and Florida (92).
Total, the 54 people on this year’s list are worth a combined $1.5 trillionalmost double the record of $875 billion in 2019.
