Player Ratings and Performance Analysis: Sweden vs South Africa Women’s Football Match

5 – World class
4 – Very good
3 – Bra
2 – Approved
1 – Failed

Filippa Angeldahl
UT 67.
Stable in midfield. Created a lot of chances and showed a good passing foot. It was seldom that a pass went wrong. Had a nice cross that forced the keeper to stretch. Combined nicely with Johanna Rytting Kaneryd.

Elin Rubensson
UT 81.
Stepped into midfield instead of Caroline Seger. Handled the role well and made sure to control the tempo in midfield. Felt calm and didn’t stress, while she did a good job defensively. Had a dangerous shot that went just wide.

Olivia Schough
IN 67.

Made great plays and played smart. Lively jump in, wanted a lot.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd

Created a lot for Blågult – was compliant and good one on one, and easily got past on his edge many times. In addition, she strengthened the defense nicely and stopped what could have been a really dangerous counterattack. Played in for Fridolina Rolfö who was able to score the equaliser.

Fridolina Rolfö
UT 67.
Invisible in the first half. Didn’t get many balls to work with. But once a post connected with Rolfö, she was able to score the equaliser.

Kosovar Asllani

The team captain was physical. Often made his player and showed good qualities in the one-on-one game. Calm, stable. However, could have let the ball go earlier in certain sequences.

Magdalena Eriksson

Controlled the backline calmly and methodically. Was on the scoresheet on counterattacks and rarely misplaced his passing foot. Marked the big star Kgatlana well and was compliant.

Amanda Ilestedt

Was solid defensively for the most part and didn’t step wrong. Strong in the air. But couldn’t quite keep up with Kgatlana’s pace at the 0-1 goal.

Nathalie Björn

Not as used to the right back – but looked comfortable. Combined well and often found ways forward with the ball. Lost the ball in a few situations, but nothing that helped Blågult.

Stina Blackstenius
UT 67.
Didn’t feel like she got into the game at all – didn’t threaten going forward and didn’t take advantage of the spaces that came. Didn’t go away though.

Jonna Andersson

Very involved in the game both offensively and defensively. Stable and showed good footwork. However, she dropped the mark on Magaia at South Africa’s lead goal.

Zecira Musovic

Wasn’t tested much – could have run out earlier to make himself big on Kgatlana’s shot, whose return resulted in 0-1.

Rebecca Blomqvist
IN 67.

Vibrant jump-in and stable by Rebecka Blomqvist. Stressed South Africa’s goalkeeper and tried to create for Sweden. Went to the penalty area, was hungry and wanted balls.

Hannah Bennison
IN 67.

Stable in midfield. Didn’t make a big impression but didn’t go away either.

Played too short to rate: Caroline Seger (IN 81), Lina Hurtig (IN 88′)
