The National Festival of Egyptian Theater Honors Adel Emam and Celebrates Egyptian Theatrical Talent

The National Festival of Egyptian Theater is organizing its sixteenth session, which bears the name of the artist Adel Emam, from July 29 to August 14, with the participation of 37 performances.
“The session bears the name of Adel Imam. We do not honor him, but we celebrate him. We all celebrate him as playwrights and artists. All of Egypt celebrates him,” said actor Mohamed Riyad, head of the festival, in a press conference on Saturday.
The participating performances are represented by independent theater groups, the private sector, state theaters, university theater, syndicate teams and civil society.
The performances are held free of charge in the theaters of Peace, Al-Ghad, Al-Tali’a, The Balloon, Brides, Miami, the Artistic Creativity Center, Al-Hanager Theater, Al-Samer Theater, the National Theater, and the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts Theater.
The jury is formed under the chairmanship of the artist Ashraf Abdel Ghafour, with the membership of actor Magdy Kamel, director Nader Salah El-Din, critic Gerges Shoukry, musician Tariq Mahran, interior designer Mohamed Al-Gharbawi, and Sahar Mahmoud Helmy, a professor at the Academy of Arts.
In addition to theatrical performances, the festival organizes a theatrical composition competition for the first work, in which 186 texts compete.
This year, the festival honors seven actors: Salah Abdullah, Riyadh Al-Khouli, Khaled Al-Sawy, Ahmed Fouad Selim, Muhammad Mahmoud, Muhammad Abu Dawood, Rushdi Al-Shami and Sami Abdel-Halim, as well as the decorator Noha Barrada and the writer Muhammad Al-Sayed Eid.
