Mansour Hindi, head of the Work Committee of the Syndicate of Musical Professions, said that the syndicate had received a request for a license to hold a concert by American rapper Travis Scott, stressing that the license was granted without knowing the controversy surrounding the concert on social media.
He added, during a telephone interview with him on the “Hazrat Citizen” program, presented by the journalist Sayed Ali, broadcast on the “Al-Hadath Al-Youm” channel, on Saturday evening, that the union did not have prior knowledge of some of the events that caused controversy on social media, noting that after the state of rejection and attack raised about Travis Scott, the union felt afraid to hold his party.
He stated that the statements issued by the Musicians Syndicate regarding holding concerts are only preliminary approval, pointing out that the concert depends on the approval of the security authorities in the country, and if they obtain it, the concert will be held with a large percentage.
Representative Freddy Al-Bayadi presented; Member of the House of Representatives and Vice-President of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, with a parliamentary question addressed to each of the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Local Development regarding the controversy surrounding the international singer’s concert; Travis Scott, scheduled for next Friday at the foot of the pyramids.
Al-Bayadi said, in his parliamentary question: “Until now, there is confusion in the statements, and there is no confirmation from the government about canceling or holding the ceremony, so why does the concerned authorities not issue a clear statement regarding this matter ?!”
