Record-Breaking Ticket Sales for ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ Premieres in Norway

On Friday, the stage was set for the premiere of both “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”.

Great excitement has been attached to the films, which are described by Dagbladet’s reviewer as two of the biggest mega-blockbusters of the year.

Now the evidence of Norwegians’ interest in the films has arrived.

– We have never experienced the likes of cinema numbers in this way.

Program director Christin Berg at Nordisk Film Kino tells Dagbladet.

Nordisk Film Kino, known as NF Kino, is one of Norway’s largest cinema companies, and operates 17 cinemas around Norway.

– We are simply unable to meet the interest in these two films. This is a lot of fun.

Yesterday, 14,823 tickets were sold for “Barbie” and 5,030 for “Oppenheimer”, says Berg.

Although Saturday’s numbers are not clear, she says that they are also “fabulous”, and that she cannot remember ever seeing such numbers on a weekend in July.

– There is an electric atmosphere around these films during the day.

Huge budgets

The premieres do not go unnoticed abroad either.

According to the industry media Deadline it is estimated that Barbie and Oppenheimer will bring in around 300 and 166 million dollars through the important opening weekend.

– These sums are far above expectations, and confirm that there is room for and desire for a diversity of quality films, they write.

Both films have received good criticism, also from Dagbladet’s reviewer, who gave the dice roll five to “Barbie” and the maximum number of eyes to “Oppenheimer”.
