Russian billionaire Oleg Tinkov called on the Kremlin oligarchs to publicly oppose the war with Ukraine.
Former Russian banker, billionaire Oleg Tinkov publicly addressed the oligarchs of the Russian Federation. He called on them to rise up against the war unleashed by the Kremlin against Ukraine.
He made a bold statement interview newspaper Financial Times.
Tinkov welcomed the UK’s recent decision to remove itself from the sanctions list. He considers this a good signal to the Kremlin elites that by speaking out against the war, they will be able to “leave Russia for the civilized world.”
Tinkov himself, importantly, immediately opposed the aggression against Ukraine. It cost him his business in Russia: the authorities “squeezed out” Tinkoff Bank from him. He also lost his friendship with some Russian billionaires, who, in his words, turned out to be “cowards.”
He called on the Kremlin oligarchs not to be silent and to oppose the war.
“They need to choose a chair and sit on it. Sitting on two chairs, which they have been doing for the past 30 years, having a house in Belgravia (a prestigious area of London – ed.) And maintaining friendship with Putin, will no longer work“, – said Tinkov.
The businessman stressed that oligarchs who do not condemn the war and stop working for the aggressor country should not wait for the lifting of Western sanctions.
Earlier, Girkin spoke about a conspiracy of Russian oligarchs.
We also wrote that Tinkov told about a call from Putin’s administration as soon as he condemned the war.
