NEW YORK — New York Yankees wide receiver Jose Trevino has a tear in his right wrist that requires surgery, which likely spells the end of his season.
Trevino was placed on the injured list 10 days before Friday’s game against the Royals. He has played with this injury since the start of the season.
The 30-year-old said surgery was the logical choice. He wasn’t sure how his injury happened, but he was in pain right from training camp.
“I knew what to expect,” said Trevino. I knew a time would come when the pain would be unbearable.”
A star player last year, Trevino hit four homers and drove in 15 runs this year. In 55 games, he had a .210 batting average.
