JR Kitakami Line Hottoyuda (Nishiwaga Town) – Yokote Station (Yokote City, Akita Prefecture), which has been suspended due to the collapse of the slope, has suspended operation from the first train on the 21st. According to the JR Morioka branch office, the service will be canceled all day on the 22nd. There is no prospect of recovery.
JR officials proceeded with deliberations on how to restore the train at the site on the 21st, but the area is surrounded by trees, making it difficult to transport the necessary materials, and the suspension is expected to continue for the time being. On this day, 13 upper and lower trains were suspended.
The site is near the intersection with the overpass of National Route 107. A 35-meter-wide and 6-meter-high section parallel to the railroad tracks was covered with earth, sand, and trees. It was found in the early morning of the 20th, and the same section was suspended from around 10:30 am on the same day. Regular service runs between Kitakami Station and Hottoyuda Station.
