Andor is the latest casualty of the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strike, with both demanding fair pay and job security in the face of an uncertain future.
Production was allegedly weeks from completion when the second season of Disney+’s hit Star Wars show was halted. Much of the filming was able to continue because many of the show’s cast members are part of Equity, another acting union typically associated with UK performers.
However, it is unclear whether the show will be able to be completed without members of SAG-AFTRA, leading to reports of filming in before the deadlineis shortened.
Andor creator Tony Gilroy said in a statement : “I think the SAG and the Writers Guild are trying to protect our industry. In this weird way, we’re the creators and the explainers, and the creative community is becoming the protector of this industry, this huge industry that people love.
