Father Donates Son’s Organs: Seeking to Bring Him Home and Give Him Final Resting Place in Colombia

Although his father, Gustavo Rodríguez, was seeking a humanitarian visa to see him alive, this was not possible.

“It is something very painful, something very strong that is difficult to understand and wait for as well as so easy,” his father commented.

After his death, the family of the young Colombian decided to donate his organs, as it was what Kevin wanted.

“He once told me and I told him that it was a very beautiful gesture that one can do and a very beautiful way of giving a person the opportunity to live,” said his father.

Although Kevin has passed away, his dad is still looking to get to New York to have a funeral for him.

“They keep fighting to find a way for me to be there. My son wanted that country so much, because he was very Colombian but he wanted to be in the United States,” he said.

“There is the option of having a burial there, just as his organs are there, it is something so that he is complete there,” he added.

They also want his ashes to end up in Colombia.

“The other option is to cremate him, bring him to Colombia and spread his ashes in the air,” his father said.
