Richard Jefferson, who has 17 years of NBA player qualifications, became a media celebrity after retiring. When he was asked on the show who was the most difficult opponent to defend in his career, Jefferson said it was definitely LeBron James.
Jefferson seems to know that this choice will lead to some backlash. Many people will question why it is not Bryant (Kobe Bryant). Jefferson said: “Kobe will only do what Kobe should do. He will shoot after all… So he is not the most difficult object to defend. The most difficult person to defend is definitely James. The key is that James is bigger and more physically fit.”
Jefferson, who started his playing career with the Nets, of course has experience playing against James many times. He also talked about how desperate he was when he faced James in the 2007 playoffs. Jefferson said: “James was only 22 or 23 years old at the time. God, I don’t know what to do with him.”
James faced the Nets led by Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Jefferson in the second round of the playoffs that year, and almost single-handedly led the Cavaliers to advance to the second round with 4 wins and 2 losses. James averaged 24.7 points, 8.5 assists and 7.3 rebounds in that series.
Jefferson fought side by side with James at the end of his career and was also one of the Cavaliers’ championship members in the 2016 season. This is also the only championship in Jefferson’s player career.
