Philippines’ Tourism Industry sees Strong Recovery with over 3 Million International Tourists in the First Half of 2023

MANILA, July 20 (Xinhua) — The Philippine Department of Tourism (Tourism Department) said Wednesday night. More than 3 million international tourists visited the Philippines in the first half of 2023 (January-June).

Revenue from inbound tourism rose to more than 3.9 billion US dollars (approximately 132 billion baht), nearly five times higher than revenue in the same period in 2022, with South Korea being the top market. with 741,658 visitors, followed by the United States, Australia, Japan and Canada.

The Philippines welcomed over 2.65 million foreign tourists in 2022, generating US$3.84 billion in revenue and contributing 6.2 percent to gross domestic product (GDP).
