From a very young age, Joana Marcús began to write her first stories. At the age of 13, she dared to show the first of them on the Wattpad platform under the pseudonym “juju1255 ″. Since then, she has not stopped doing it, connecting more and more with broader audiences.
His most recent saga, “Months by your side” has been a true literary phenomenon, with more than 260,000 copies sold. The story of Jenna Brown, a young woman facing the challenges of college and embarking on a journey of self-discovery and love with Ross, has struck a chord with young readers.
At just 23 years old, the Spanish author has conquered the literary world. Tickets for her book events sell out in less than 30 minutes and she hardly believes it.
House of the book
Regarding her visit to Bogotá, we spoke with the young author and asked her a quick round of questions about her profession and her relationship with cinema. We asked her the favor of not thinking, and she answered us like this:
– Favorite movie?
– The Lion King.
— Favorite genre?
— Suspense.
— Director or director?
— Quentin Tarantino.
Joana Marcus
— It is curious how interests vary.
— It’s like I have different personalities, I know.
— Are you more into series or movies?
– Films.
— What was the last one you saw and it blew your head off?
— Well, I just saw ‘Kill Bill’ again and it hasn’t stopped surprising me.
The mail
— Do you find echoes between your cinephilia and writing?
— I think they are two very different things, because I cannot equally enjoy something that I am only consuming as a spectator and that other thing that I am doing as a writer. In fact, what I like to write and what I like to see on the screen are rarely the same. In that sense, I have very different tastes.
— However, it helps you for writing…
— Yes, suddenly, with certain ways of counting things. For me, writing is something very cinematic. I often have a very clear image in my head and from that I build the story. In fact, I organize the books as if they were a script. I arrange the scenes and I move forward.
“Something you’re impatiently waiting for?”
— The second season of ‘The House of the Dragon’ and Tarantino’s latest film, which is already on the way.
