Severe Weather Threat Looms for Friday, but Sunny Weekend Ahead

NEW YORK — After days of rain, residents of the tri-state area can enjoy a sunny, pleasant Thursday with a little cloudiness.

However, that doesn’t mean rain couldn’t be on the way.

A frontal system is expected to arrive in our area beginning Thursday night. The threat of severe weather will increase with a lineup of strong thunderstorms for Friday impacting the morning rush hour with the possibility of continued thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Flash flooding, damaging winds, large hail, and even a few isolated tornadoes can develop as the front moves forward impacting morning and afternoon travel. The rain will end by Friday night.

The good news is that the weekend will be sunny and perfect for enjoying the summer.
