Manchester City has agreed to transfer its Algerian striker, Riyad Mahrez, to Al-Ahly of Saudi Arabia for 30 million pounds.

Mahrez, 32, obtained permission not to travel with his team to Japan and South Korea, in the pre-season camp.

Manchester City granted this permission to Mahrez after he received an offer commensurate with his assessment of the Algerian star, who is linked to a contract with the club for the next two years.

Manchester City paid 60 million pounds to join Mahrez in 2018, and the Algerian striker scored 15 goals for his team in 47 games last season, which culminated in the historic treble.

But he was a reserve in the FA Cup Final and the Champions League Final, and he did not participate in the two matches. And the coach, Pep Guardiola, allowed him to move to the Saudi League, to join many international stars there.

Liverpool club agreed in principle to a deal worth 12 million pounds sterling, in addition to 12 million additional expenses, for the transfer of its player, Jordan Henderson, to the Saudi club Al-Ettifaq.

This summer, the Saudi League included many international stars, such as Karim Benzema, Ngolo Kante, and Robin Navas, and before them the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. Al-Ettifaq club appointed former Liverpool and England player Stephen Gerrard as its coach.

The Saudi Public Investment Fund sponsors four clubs in the Premier League, including Al-Ahly Club, as those in charge of the project aspire to make the Saudi League one of the five strongest leagues in the world.

Mahrez was the only player in Manchester City’s first-team list who missed the trip to Japan and South Korea.

Mystery still surrounds the future of prominent players in Manchester City, such as the English, Kyle Walker, the Portuguese, Bernardo Silva, and the Spaniard, Emeric Laporte, but they all traveled with the team on its preparatory trip.

And there were reports that Bayern Munich reached an agreement to include Kyle Walker, but it seems that the news is far from the truth. Portuguese left-back Joao Cancelo returned to Manchester City after Bayern Munich gave up the possibility of converting his six-month loan deal last season into a permanent contract.

Goalkeeper Zac Staffan is believed to be absent from the group due to a knee injury, but Manchester City would not mind letting him leave this summer.
