Tesla in Negotiations with Car Manufacturers for Full Self-Drive Licensing

The head of the electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk, has revealed that Tesla has started negotiations with several large car manufacturers about licensing the Full Self-Drive driving assistance system for the needs of these manufacturers. Of course, Musk hasn’t revealed who exactly Tesla is talking to right now.

As the name suggests, Full Self-Drive is a driving assistance system capable of automatically performing various driving functions. It has been tested, developed and improved for a long time, but it does not quite provide what could be understood by the words “Full Self-Drive”, that is, the car does not drive completely by itself and without the driver’s supervision. The car with this system is able to drive itself, but the driver takes responsibility for what is happening and must be ready to intervene. In fact, for example, Mercedes has gone further than Tesla with its Drive Pilot system.

Also, Musk said that the previous Full Self-Drive buyers will be able to transfer the system to the new car. True, there is a catch – the new car must be ordered by the end of the 3rd quarter. Until now, those customers who spent 15 thousand dollars could not transfer the system to the new car – it is “tied” to the car. Currently, there are approximately 400,000 machines in the world with this system, which continue to collect data on various situations, which in turn helps engineers and programmers to improve the system.

Musk also admitted that the public “quite rightly” jokes and laughs at his overly ambitious claims. It’s no secret that Musk often announces that something will be done by a certain deadline, but it doesn’t happen. Then a new deadline is promised, which is violated again and we can continue like that. Cybertruck, Semi are just two examples.
