REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA—Series iPhone The 15 isn’t even out yet, but we’re already talking about its successor. In particular, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to arrive in September 2024.

Reported Thursday (20/7/2023), according to the prolific (and usually reliable) leaker Digital Chat Station from China, this device will have a rather unique feature.

As stated by Digital Chat Station, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be equipped with a “Super Telephoto” periscope zoom camera. This designation seems to refer to cameras with a focal length of 300mm.

Reported from GSMArenaThursday (20/7/2023), the camera will be a capable engineering feat considering that the iPhone 14 Pro Max currently has to be content with a very small 77mm on the zoom snapper, which is indeed non-periscope.

On the other hand, this September the iPhone 15 Pro Max is rumored to mark the debut of periscope on the iPhone. Next year the iPhone 16 Pro will also have a periscope – not the “Super Telephoto” one.

So presumably the iPhone 16 Pro will get the iPhone 15 Pro Max periscope, meanwhile iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a more sophisticated system.

Super Telephoto cameras are often used in sports and wildlife photography. In addition, the camera is also interesting to use for portraits, as long as the photographer is far enough from the subject.

The same source claims the main camera of the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 12 percent larger sensor (1/1.4 inch in size) compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max (1/28 inch). The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to stick with its predecessor’s hardware.
