The Belgian King Philippe has received a score of 5.9 in the annual opinion poll among the population. Like Willem-Alexander, he has been on the throne for ten years this year.

Met The Great Poll – Royal Family van HLN, VTM News, RTL in The evening explores how Belgians feel about their royal family.

The Belgians give their king a lower mark than the Dutch gave King Willem-Alexander this year. Our monarch received a 6.5 in April of this year, according to a survey that Ipsos had carried out on behalf of the NOS.

The Belgian poll shows that 66 percent of our southern neighbors consider King Philippe professional. 60 percent of those surveyed find him sympathetic. A minority – 42 percent – thinks he makes a natural impression. 41 percent think that Filip comes across as “unfamiliar”.

The Belgian Queen Mathilde and heir to the throne Elisabeth also receive a 5.9 from the Belgians. This means they score lower than the Dutch queen and heir to the throne: Máxima received a 7.3 and Amalia a 7.

Filip celebrates his anniversary on Friday

Both King Philippe and King Willem-Alexander have been on the throne for ten years this year. Filip succeeded his father Albert on July 21, 2013. Willem-Alexander succeeded his mother Beatrix on April 30, 2013.

Filip celebrates his anniversary on Friday. A party is then celebrated throughout Belgium, just like on King’s Day in the Netherlands. For example, a military parade will take place.
