Leo Borg was the only remaining Swede in the second round of the ATP250 competition Nordea Open. In Sunset Tennis – the evening match which started at 9pm – Leo started disrespectfully against 113-ranked experienced clay player Federico Coria of Argentina.
– He already broke in the first game, but I came back strong. It was respectably tight throughout the first set and I had opportunities to break back. He was mature in the important situations and more persistent, says Leo Borg and continues:
– I had the crowd with me and did what I could, but he was the better player today. I feel like I can beat him on a good day and that shows I belong at this level.
It was a Swedish loss with 4-6, 2-6. At a 1-5 and 40-40 deficit, the match was interrupted due to a heavy downpour.
– I tried to come back after the rain break. I won the first game but he served too well in the match. I take home my first ATP win and can be satisfied with the week. This week was a boost and I have to thank the audience and above all those who stayed after the rain break, says Leo Borg who will compete a lot in Asia in the near future.
Thursday’s matches on the center court in Båstad include names such as Casper Ruud, Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev.
