Mowafi said during his program “My Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge”, broadcast on Sada Al-Balad channel, that the serious disease revealed by hyponatremia is “adrenal gland insufficiency.”

He added that the adrenal gland is located in the body above the kidneys, explaining that it is responsible for the production of the hormone cortisone, which in turn contributes to maintaining the balance of sodium in the blood.

He explained that the adrenal gland, which suffers from insufficient activity, faces great difficulty in producing the hormone cortisone naturally, which leads to a deficiency of sodium in the blood.

The professor of critical care medicine pointed out that the feeling of fatigue is a symptom that indicates a decrease in sodium in the bloodstream from the normal rate.
