LeBron James (38) will once again wear the number 23 on his Lakers jersey, leaving behind the 6 that he has worn for the last two years. There is a reason for this and he has to do with the late Bill Russell.
When the Celtics legend passed away in July 2022, the NBA, in his honor, decided that no other player, in any other franchise, could ever pick and wear number 6 again. There was only one exception, those who wore it. they had previously.
