Books – Mahmoud Mustafa Abu Talib:
Lawyer Tariq Al-Awadi, a member of the Presidential Pardon Committee, announced that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi used his constitutional powers and issued a presidential decree pardoning a group of those who had been sentenced, including Patrick Zaki and Muhammad Al-Baqer, in response to the call of the Board of Trustees of the National Dialogue and political forces.
Journalist Diaa Rashwan, the general coordinator of the National Dialogue, announced that the Dialogue’s Board of Trustees issued a statement appealing to the President of the Republic, to use his legal and constitutional powers towards the immediate release of human rights activist Patrick George Zaki, and not to implement the sentence imposed against him today, while calling on the President to use his right Constitutional pardon for the remainder of the sentence if necessary.
In its statement, the Board of Trustees of the Dialogue affirmed its full confidence in the president’s keenness on the future of the convicted activist, especially that he is a science student who obtained a master’s degree a few days ago, and that he is in the prime of his life.
The Board of Trustees of the Dialogue ended its statement that the President’s decision to take this decision will add new emphasis on his continued keenness to provide more elements of a positive atmosphere for the success of the National Dialogue, in a manner that is commensurate with his call for it as a way to agree on the priorities of national action at the current stage.
