Benjamin Mendy has signed for French club Lorient. The club reports this on its own website.
The 29-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Ligue 1 club. In Lorient, he becomes a teammate with Norwegian Joel Mvuka.
Last week, Mendy was acquitted of all charges in the rape cases he has faced over the past two years. When the police case against him was opened in August 2021, he was suspended by Manchester City.
He has not been seen on the football field since then, but now he is going to make a comeback.
Mendy’s contract at City expired on 1 July, and the Frenchman thus goes to Lorient free of charge.
For Manchester City, he helped win the Premier League three times, among other things. In 2018, he was part of the French national team that won the World Cup.
