Meanwhile, the funeral procession carrying the body of late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy left for Kottayam. It was announced that the mourning procession would start from Puthupally House in Jagati at 7 o’clock, but the procession started late due to crowding. A huge crowd lined both sides of the road where the procession was coming to catch a last glimpse of Jananayaka.

The funeral procession will halt briefly in front of the NSS headquarters and Changanassery SB College at Perunna to pay their last respects. Kottayam DCC will take over the dead body. In the evening, facilities will be arranged to offer last rites in a special pandal in front of the DCC office. By nightfall, the body will be brought to the family home in Puthupally at Puthupally Carrot Vallakal. Burial tomorrow at 3.30 in the special grave of St. George Orthodox Church.
