Challenges and Opportunities of Electric Cars for Caravan Owners in Belgium

There are about 50,000 caravans on the road in Belgium and just over 1,000 are sold every year. That is modest compared to the Dutch and their 425,000 ‘drag huts’, but it remains an interesting market. The sector is now in the stomach with the electrification of the vehicle fleet. The driving range of an electric car is halved with an average heavy caravan and sometimes you have to disconnect the caravan before you can charge. “Who wants to drive to Lake Garda like that?” says a caravan dealer.
