A small team has been working on the Threads social network for only five months
So it is a direct response to the chaos that Elon Musk unleashed on Twitter
The number of daily active users also dropped significantly
The new social network Threads is currently in the spotlight, mainly thanks to its rapid rise to the scene. The news from Meta bet on a similar model to that used by the popular Twitter, which has been in trouble since being taken over by billionaire Elon Musk and is facing an outflow of users and advertisers. A lot of questions are still swirling around the young social network, some of which were answered by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri in the popular Ask Me Anything format, where users themselves asked him questions.
Threads would not exist without Elon Musk
Mosseri was surprisingly open in his answers. For example, he admitted that since its launch, Threads has lost over half of its daily active users, which is a big loss, but it is a natural process. More interesting is the fact how long it took for Twitter’s competitor to emerge. Indeed, many believed that the creation of such a project took a lot of time and manpower. However, the opposite is true, and Mosseri proved the truth to some conspiracy theorists who claimed that Meta was only reacting to the current situation on Twitter. Indeed, Threads was apparently created by a small team in just five months, and the app’s release was even pushed back to an earlier date because engineers felt the appropriate window to market was closing.
If it weren’t for Elon Musk’s chaotic leadership, Threads probably wouldn’t have happened at all
If Mosseri is not exaggerating his claim, it would mean that Elon Musk is essentially responsible for the emergence of a new competitor. Threads currently boasts more than 100 million users, with an estimated 23 million of them active on a daily basis. Although this is not enough for Twitter with more than 100 million active daily users, it should be noted that Threads has been around for about two weeks and is still not officially available on the old continent.
Don’t overlook
Threads is growing by leaps and bounds, it hit the target of 100 million users in 6 days
Threads has a number of plans for the future, many of which are more than positive for users. For example, Meta does not plan to deploy ads on the platform, at least for the time being, and is preparing to fact-check published posts. On the other hand, many users and, of course, the company may also be bothered by the inability to set up a chronological display of posts, due to which important messages can easily fall by the wayside.
