Cristiano Ronaldo Declares Preference for Saudi Professional Football League Over European Competitions

He said Cristiano Ronaldo He will not return to play in Europe, and confirmed that he believes that the Saudi Professional Football League is better than the American Professional League, which was chosen by his rival, Lionel Messi, to start a new era in his career.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr at the end of last year with a two-and-a-half-year contract after his departure from Manchester United, confirmed that he paved the way for other senior players to move to Saudi teams, along with the desire of others to move to the Kingdom.

The 38-year-old Portugal captain spoke after a 5-0 friendly victory loss to Celta Vigo on Monday evening, saying that most league competitions in Europe are suffering from a decline in level.

ESPN quoted Ronaldo as saying: “I am 100% not going back to any European team. I am 38 years old.”

He added, “European football has lost a lot of efficiency. The only competition that is still good is the English Premier League, and it is superior to the rest of the league competitions.”

Messi, Ronaldo’s rival for years, was a candidate to move to Saudi Arabia before the recent World Cup winner in Qatar chose to join Inter Miami, with a contract until 2025.

Ronaldo said, “The Saudi League is better than the American League.”

He added, “Now all the players come here… In one year, more big players will come to Saudi Arabia.”

Senior players followed Ronaldo’s approach to moving to Saudi Arabia, including Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, as well as N’Golo Kante from Chelsea, and the two players joined the league champion, Al-Ittihad.
