US Police Search Home in Las Vegas Area for Tupac Shakur Murder Investigation

US police searched a home in the Las Vegas area on Monday evening in connection with the murder of Tupac Shakur. The rapper was shot in 1996. No one was ever arrested.

The Las Vegas Police Department confirms according to ABC News in a statement that a search warrant was issued on July 17 “as part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Tupac Shakur”. The police are not releasing anything else. “We are not commenting further at this time.”

Shakur, known from below California Love, was shot in his car on September 7, 1996 on his way back from a boxing match between Bruce Seldon and Mike Tyson in Las Vegas. He rode with his record executive Suge Knight.

Waiting for a red traffic light, they were shot at from another car. Shakur died in hospital from his injuries six days later. He was 25 years old.

Shakur, also known as 2Pac, is regarded by many as one of the greatest rappers of all time. Changes, Dear Mama in California Love are among his most famous songs. In June – almost 27 years after his death – he was posthumously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
