Spanish police said, on Tuesday, that the body of an infant who was thrown into a Spanish beach near the Mediterranean city of Tarragona last week is the daughter of two immigrants who died when a boat with 15 people on board sank last April.
The infant, who did not exceed the age of 8 months, was sailing with her parents on the boat that left Algeria on March 21, before it sank off the Spanish Balearic Islands on the sixth of April, which led to the death of everyone on board.
After the body was found on July 11 in Roda de Beira, police analyzed a genetic sample and determined it matched the woman whose body was recovered after the boat sank in April, Reuters reported.
Roda de Beira is a town on Spain’s golden coast, about 200 km northwest of the island of Mallorca.
Eight bodies of immigrants who drowned in the accident were found, including the child and her mother.
