North Korea Rejects US Negotiations, Continues Weapons Development: Latest Update

Pyongyang

United States of America (US) offered negotiations to North Korea, a communist country that has been very anti-Uncle Sam. North Korea said Uncle Sam was daydreaming.

As is well known, negotiations between the US side, including North Korea’s neighbors who are friends with the US, namely South Korea, have been discussed and tried several times. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un even met with the former US President, Donald Trump. But that doesn’t look like it will happen again.

Kim Jong Un’s younger sister, Kim Yo Young, flatly refused any US offer to negotiate. Kim Yo Jong said Washington was daydreaming if it thought it could stop Pyongyang in its weapons development program.

As reported by AFP, Tuesday (18/7/2023), North Korea fired its most powerful ballistic missile last week, the Hwasong-18 intercontinental ballistic missile that uses solid fuel, as part of a series of weapons tests that have been rife this year.

Recently, the US and allied South Korea have stepped up defense cooperation in response to North Korea’s barrage of weapons tests. One of them is by holding joint military exercises involving sophisticated stealth jets and US strategic assets.
